Elite Status Qualification Levels

As we track your activity, we'll notify you when you qualify for AAdvantage Executive Platinum®, AAdvantage Platinum® or AAdvantage Gold status. To qualify for elite status, you must earn the following qualifying miles, points or segments during a calendar year:

You earn elite-status qualifying points, miles, and segments when you purchase eligible fare tickets and fly on American Airlines, American Eagle, AmericanConnection® carriers, Aer Lingus (through March 31, 2007), Alaska Airlines (including Horizon Airlines), British Airways*, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LAN (including LAN Peru), Qantas Airways and/or American Airlines codeshare flights**. *   AAdvantage members may not earn or redeem miles/points on British Airways transatlantic flights between the U.S. and the U.K.
** Ticket must reflect an American Airlines coded flight number. 

Elite Status Points

The number of AAdvantage points you earn is based on a combination of miles earned and the type of fare purchased. Use the following chart to help you calculate your accumulated points.

You must fly at least four of your segments on American Airlines, American Eagle, or AmericanConnection to qualify for AAdvantage Executive Platinum, AAdvantage Platinum, or AAdvantage Gold status within the qualifying year. Qualifying miles do not include class-of-service bonus miles, other participant miles, or any other AAdvantage bonus mileage. Miles purchased through buyAAmiles and giftAAmiles do not qualify for elite status.

LAN affiliates LAN Argentina and LAN Ecuador are not members of oneworld and the miles earned on these affiliates do not count toward elite qualification.
